Ashley Wain is an acting teacher living in Melbourne, Australia.
He trained at the Victorian College of the Arts under David Latham, and with Leonid Verzub, a long-time student and colleague of the great Maria Knebel, whose work integrates the teaching of Stanislavsky, Michael Chekhov, Nemirovich-Danchenko and Vakhtangov (this sometimes referred to as Active Analysis or Action Analysis).
He has taught widely, in Australia and the United States, at Victorian College of the Arts, The National Theatre Drama School, the Broken Limb Theatre Company, St Martin’s Youth Theatre, the University of Ballarat, the University of New South Wales, Australian Institute of Dramatic Arts in New York City, Curtin University and SUNY New Paltz.
He is currently teaching at 16th Street Studios and Verve Studios. He offers workshops and private coaching throughout Australia and internationally.
His work teaching emphasizes presence, organicity and vitality in the imaginary world, and the beautiful simplicity that can emerge from a rigourous, playful and competent application of technique.
Ashley is also a teacher of meditation and a facilitator of Holotropic Breathwork.
